My Work and Approach

My Work and Approach

I hold a BA in Psychology and Sociology and am now beginning my master’s program.  As an intuitively emotional person, I’ve always been drawn to helping others navigate their feelings and find calm. Guided by values of self-compassion and the “empty cup” analogy, I’ve seen how women often pour out their own energy until it runs dry. Havin

Guided by values of self-compassion and the “empty cup” analogy, I’ve seen how women often pour out their own energy until it runs dry. Having moved away from home at 14, I understand firsthand the challenges of transition and growth.

I specialize in one-on-one emotional life coaching and facilitate group sessions for schools and organizations, empowering individuals and teams to cultivate mental well-being and stronger connections. My approach is grounded in self-compassion and informed by attachment theory.  I draw on mindfulness, meditation, self-compassion exercises, and evidence-based emotional-regulation techniques to guide clients. After working together, people often report feeling calmer, more understood, and better equipped to navigate their emotions with confidence.

Mentor Appreciation

Merrill Barber, MSW

For over two years now, I’ve had the privilege of learning under the guidance of Merrill Barber, a compassionate and deeply skilled social worker based in Toronto. What began as an internship has grown into a mentorship that continues to shape not just my professional journey, but my personal values as a coach.

Merrill has a rare gift for turning theory into lived wisdom. She has helped me bridge the gap between textbooks and real life, whether it's understanding the nuance of a client’s experience or honing therapeutic tools like active listening, communication, and gentle presence. Through her patience and her calm, grounded energy, she has taught me that healing is not rushed, rather it’s held, witnessed, and nurtured with care.

Some of my most memorable moments with Merrill have been during our check-in calls, where I’ve been able to share small reflections or contribute ideas to her client work. Each time she listens, values my input, and sometimes even integrates it into her practice, it reminds me how empowering mentorship can be. It’s not just about learning from someone brilliant, but about being trusted enough to grow alongside them.

What I admire most in Merrill is her unwavering compassion, not only for her clients, but for me as a learner. Her presence is patient and kind, never rushed, always open. She teaches by example, and every interaction with her reminds me of the kind of practitioner and person I hope to become.

If you’re looking for someone grounded, insightful, and incredibly kind to walk alongside you in your healing journey, I wholeheartedly encourage you to explore Merrill’s work at merrillbarber.ca.

And if you’re here seeking a coach who values deep listening and thoughtful care, much of what I bring to my work is shaped by what I’ve learned from Merrill. I carry her teachings with gratitude into every session I hold.
